ZIRO, Sep 4: The flying squads conducted raids in 30 shops located within the vicinity of various educational institutions across Ziro-Hapoli Township in Lower Subansiri district on Wednesday and seized a sizable amount of tobacco products under various sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003.
A fine of Rs 6000 has been realised as per Section 6 of the COTP Act from the shop owners selling cigarettes and other tobacco products.
The team also interacted with students of Dani Kunia Government Higher Secondary School and advised them against the use of tobacco products within or outside the school complex.
The team was led by EAC Bamin Tarang, along with DPO, NCD (NTCP) Dr Subu Habung, Assistant Commissioner (Tax & Excise) Punyo Yaje, District Consultant Tamchi Yabii and police personnel, led by OC Phassang Simi. (DIPRO)
