ITANAGAR, Jun 16: The state government has suspended former Likabali (Lower Siang) ADC Sode Potom from service. The officer was arrested last month in connection with a land compensation scam in Anjaw district.
The personnel secretary issued the suspension order on 11 June.
Potom, along with Cholingso Kora, a resident of Tezu in Lohit district, was arrested by the special investigation cell (SIC) of the vigilance department in connection with the Chaglagam-Rocham road compensation scam in Anjaw district.
It is alleged that the total amount involved in the scam is Rs 24 crore, which had been meant to be disbursed as compensation against land acquisition for a 9.5-kilometre stretch of the road. Potom was then serving as the Hayuliang ADC. A case was registered with the SIC.
Speaking to this daily, SIC SP M Harsha Vardhan informed that the SIC has “broadened the scope of investigation and has questioned several people, including senior government officials of Anjaw.”
He said more people will be questioned in the days to come, and added that questioning of suspects has been affected due to the Covid-19 situation.
