SANGRAM, Oct 27: Home Minister Bamang Felix informed that a major section of the Joram-Koloriang highway has been re-tendered and work will resume soon.
Speaking to the press here on Tuesday, he said the whole stretch has been divided into eight packages.
“The progress of work in Packages 1 and 2 is good. But for the remaining packages, fresh tender had to be done because of various issues. Hopefully, the firms who have won the fresh tender will work sincerely,” said the home minister.
He appealed to the people of Kurung Kumey and Kra Daadi districts to extend every possible support for the construction of the highway.
“People will need to cooperate. If an obstacle is created by the local people, the progress
of work will be hampered. Therefore I appeal to the people not to disturb when the work resumes,” said Felix.
The home minister also said that people would have to be patient as construction may take some time.
“I have myself travelled through roads and understand the pain of the people using the Joram-Koloriang road. There will be some difficulty during the construction period. However, once the road is completed, it will benefit the people of two districts,” he said.
