ITANAGAR, 14 May: A team of the ICR district administration, led by EAC Datum Gadi, SDPO Kamdam Sikom, Highway AE Nangbia Tedi, LO to DC Sanjiv Chakraborty and police personnel removed sand gravels, stone chips and other construction materials which where dumped along the national highway (NH).
Earlier, the district magistrate (DM) had issued an order, directing all concerned to remove the construction materials like sands, shingles, etc, stacked along the national highway.
The DM had stated in the order that these construction materials endanger human lives by narrowing the road/footpath and thereby increasing the risk of accidents while also causing traffic congestions.
Moreover, with the onset of monsoon, there are chances that these materials may clog the drains, leading to overflow of the drains, which may lead to increased dangers of accidents and traffic congestion.
The team also removed 12 off-road vehicles from the highway. The DM had earlier directed the owners and proprietors of roadside garages to remove all such vehicles from the national highway, the state highway and sector roads, saying that such vehicles created traffic problems and caused hindrance to free flow of traffic, thereby accentuating the traffic congestion.
EAC Gadi informed that more such off-road vehicles lying unattended along the highway will be removed in the coming days. (DIPRO)
