Editor,
I would like to draw the kind attention of the APSSB that posts of junior estimator/draughtsman and surveyor under various departments were advertised on 18/12/2019. It took around one year and five months for the board to release the syllabus for those posts, which was on 26/05/2021, whereas the board should have released the syllabus at least after a month from the date of advertisement and not just a month away from the date of exam, as it was officially given in the website.
Moreover, the exam dates have been fixed on 17 and 18 July. In this time of the pandemic, most of the state is under lockdown or curfew, all the bookstores, photocopy shops, etc, are closed, and there is restriction on public movement. It is hard on the part of the candidates to gather notes and other study materials as the syllabus contains certain portions which are not studied under a professional BE (civil) course.
The aspirants, especially those living in the ICR, will be at a huge disadvantage if the exam is not postponed, as the region is in complete lockdown for the last month. Also, the exam for the said posts will be conducted in the ICR itself, which is reeling under the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases. And as such, there is a possibility of chain transmission of coronavirus when thousands of candidates will gather to appear for the exam.
I would like to request the APSSB to kindly postpone the exam to a more conducive time, when no such mental, physical and financial pressure restricts the deserving candidates from sitting for the exam, so that the best persons get selected for the jobs.
Aspirant,
Itanagar
