YUPIA, 5 Feb: The first sports meet of the Arunachal Pradesh College Teachers Association (APCTA) began here in Papum Pare district on Friday.
The sports meet features badminton and marathon competitions.
Disaster Management Secretary Dani Sulu, who inaugurated the event, encouraged the teaching community to stay physically fit, saying that only healthy teachers can build a healthy society by imparting quality education to the college students of Arunachal.
APCTA general secretary Tumbom Riba Jamoh encouraged the college teachers to include sports in their daily life to keep themselves physically fit and healthy.
APCTA president Narmi Darang said that more sports events will be included in the future.
The sports meet is being hosted by the government college in Doimukh.
Among others, Government College Doimukh Principal Dr Taw Azu and former APCTA presidents Pura Tago and Dr Jommy Loyi attended the inaugural programme.
