ITANAGAR, 11 Mar: The family members of Tapor Pullom on Friday said they have postponed their proposed dharna, which had been scheduled to be held on Sunday, to Monday.
Pullom was allegedly abducted by the Chinese PLA in September 2015, and his family is demanding action from the government to secure his release.
The dharna will take place outside the state assembly.
Speaking with The Arunachal Times, Amoni Pullom, the daughter-in-law of Tapor Pullom, informed that they did not get permission to stage the dharna on Sunday. “We had planned to sit-in on the first day of the state assembly on Friday, so that the ministers and the legislators know our story,” she said.
Amoni said that the family is anxious and upset as there has been no response from the government to the letter the family had submitted in February, seeking the government’s assistance to secure Pullom’s release.
“We neither have any known faces in politics, nor any big influence. We are just middle-class people, and it is difficult for us to even seek help. Initially, we did not have any idea. We did not even know how to approach the media, until a month ago, when The Arunachal Times carried our news,” Amoni said.
The dharna will see the participation of the family members of Pullom, along with members of the Shi-Yomi district unit of the Adi Bane Kebang and the Shajee Youth Association, from 10 am on Monday.
