No tangible development possible without people’s participation: CM
ITANAGAR, 28 Dec: Commemorating the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the state BJP celebrated the Good Governance Day at its headquarters here in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) on 25 Dec.
During the celebration, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that “no tangible development is possible without people’s participation.”
“Time has come to change our mindset for a newer and inclusive development of state and country as a whole,” CM said while giving emphasis on reformation, performance and transformation as a mantra of all-round development.
CM also highlighted the achievements under Jal Jeevan Mission, hydropower development, road connectivity and social sectors, especially women and child development.
Khandu said that former PM and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first PM who advocated against ‘appeasement politics in India.’
He said the good governance day is celebrated in honour of Vajpayee and to spread the government’s accountability, transparency, responsibilities and duties towards its people.
Transport minister Nakap Nalo, in his address, highlighted the welfare schemes of central and state governments, while Arunachal Pradesh Bio-diversity Board chairman Tayek Goi spoke on the life and work of Vajpayee.
State BJP vice president Junty Singpho and state secretary Tadar Niglar also spoke.
Earlier, the BJP leaders including ministers paid floral tribute to the portrait of Vajpayee.
Party MLAs, IMC mayor, corporators, panchayat leaders and party karyakartas also attended the celebration.
The Day was also celebrated in district and mandal BJP units across the state, according to a BJP release.
