PASIGHAT, 10 Feb: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife & Biodiversity) N Tam has written to the DCs of East Siang, Siang and Upper Siang districts to restrain hunting of wildlife during the Unying Aaran festival next month.

In a letter to the DCs and the DFOs, the PCCF urged them to create awareness among the community members about the need for conservation of wildlife.

The PCCF said that rampant killing of wildlife in the name of tribal festivals is going on unabated, which is posing a serious threat to the ecosystems.

Tam is expected to tour East Siang, Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Diabng Valley and Dibang Valley districts this month to create awareness among the local communities regarding the importance of wildlife conservation.
