NAMSAI, 19 Jul: Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom has stated that convergence of stakeholders at each level is the key to achieving saturation of Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs).
He was speaking during the inaugural programme of the block-level orientation training on localisation of sustainable development goals (LSDGs) for blocks of Namsai district held here on Wednesday.
The MLA said, “The concept of ‘Nation First’ should be endorsed and one way to contribute to it is by aiming to take our village forward thereby facilitating development of the nation as a whole.”
He urged all to revisit the developmental activities undertaken and to ensure that it is climate friendly and aligns with the goals of SDG.
While expressing his concern over conduct of ineffectual Gram Sabhas, he urged all to take active part in planning during conduct of Gram Sabhas in order to adopt feasible plans for execution.
He further asserted the versatility of Amrit Sarovar scheme and stated that, “it is a multifarious project having excellent scope which can help in combating issues such as lack of irrigation, drainage issues and can also act as a source of sustainable income.”
Informing that all disbursement of funds under MLALAD and SIDF will be done in line with the mandates of LSDG, the MLA further urged the Panchayati Raj members to do the same.
Panchayati Raj director Tamune Miso cited the importance of capacity building amongst field functionaries and said, “GoI is invested in imparting knowledge and skills of all new government schemes and interventions and percolate it down to the grassroots level.” He further emphasized the participation of line departments during conduct of Gram Sabhas and subsequent preparation of LSDG based GPDP.
Namsai DC C.R Khampa in his address stated that the first step towards aiming to achieve saturation of LSDG goals is by learning and educating oneself about the goals and the concept of LSDG in details. He elaborated in detail about the 9 themes of LSDG and urged the district level core committee on localization of sustainable development goals members to work for inclusive social and economic development of the district and its people.
Namsai ZPC Nang Urmila Mancheykhun, PR&DP deputy director of SIRD&PR, Itanagar Narayan Sahoo, Namsai DPDO Wathai Mossang also spoke.
During the programme, two training manuals viz. ‘Hand book on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals’ and ‘Hand book on Training module for Localization of Sustainable Development Goals’ were launched.
The MLA also launched a QR code of Namsai Zilla Parishad’s own source of revenue.
ZPMs, Namsai ADC, all the member secretaries, heads of offices, GPCs, ASHAs, staffs, LSDG committee members, officials of PR & RD department took part in training programme. (DIPRO)
