Habitual offender arrested

CHIMPU, 21 Jul: After receiving several complaints regarding thefts occurring in Zoo Road Colony here in Papum Pare district, a police team comprising DSP Kengo Dirchi, Itanagar SDPO Takhe Tasso, Chimpu PS OC SK Singh and others, under the supervision of SP Rohit Rajbir Singh, arrested one Giogi Taju (21), of Chate Dara village in Kurung Kumey district, on Friday.

During interrogation, it emerged that Taju is a habitual offender who had been released from the district jail on parole in August 2022.

On the basis of his disclosure, several stolen items, such as three water pumps, five LPG cylinders, three electric saws, one vibrator, one angle grinder, and nine mobile handsets were recovered from various areas of Itanagar, the police said.

A criminal case (u/s 380 IPC) has been registered at the Chimpu police station and efforts are underway to recover more stolen properties.

The SP appealed to the people to “not buy any used household item, electronic goods, or construction materials without proper verification, as they are likely to be stolen properties.”
