SANGRAM, 7 Dec: Bank loans of Rs 43.77 lakhs were disbursed to 24 self-help groups (SHG), while Rs 1 lakh each was disbursed to 23 SHGs of Nyapin in Kurung Kumey district under the Arun Shree Rinn Yojana (ASRY) during a two-day sensitisation programme, focused on various central and state government schemes under the panchayati raj and the rural development departments and the ArSrLM, held at Layang on Thursday.
Local MLA and Panchayati Raj & Rural Development (PR&RD) Minister Bamang Felix disbursed the bank loans, and flagged off nine vehicles under the Arunachal Grameen Express Yojana for the SHGs.
The minister highlighted the implementation of various schemes and projects aimed at empowering women through SHGs in the state.
Officials of government departments shared information about the schemes and projects under their departments, and explained “how to access the benefits.”
Lauding the success achieved by SHGs through different schemes, Felix said that “SHGs across the state have a cumulative bank account holding to the tune of more than Rs 200 crore, through which they are engaged in various economic activities.”
He urged the PRI leaders and the SHGs to “utilise all available benefits” and emphasised the importance of on-time loan repayment.
PR&RD Secretary Amarnath Talwade assured the community that “the department is committed to supporting you in becoming self-reliant.”
Acknowledging the need for “departmental improvement,” the secretary said that, “though all schemes may not be perfect, collective efforts should be made to enhance their effectiveness.”
PR Director Tamune Miso, RD Director Kego Jilen, SIRD&PR officers, and ArSRLM CEO Jechonia Islary presented information on various schemes and projects of the central and the state governments.
PR Joint Director Likha Sampu, Kurung Kumey DC Ibom Tao, SP Bomken Basar, and Sangram SDO (i/c) Hento Riba were also present.
