NIRJULI, 15 Apr: The SC/ST Cell of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology (NERIST) here celebrated Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti here on 14 April.
During the programme, which was attended by, among others, NERIST Director (i/c) Prof Sarsing Gao, RGU Agricultural Sciences Dean Prof SumpamTangjang, NERIST Administration Dean Prof M Chandrashekaran, SC/ST LO (i/c) Dr G Pangging, and others, Prof Tangjang dwelt on the life history of Dr Ambedkar, and outlined his role as an economist, sociologist, anthropologist, educationalist, policymaker, parliamentarian, and administrator, the institute informed in a release.
Prof Gao elaborated the important roles played by Dr Ambedkar, and emphasised that “at present,corruption needs to be rooted out for the betterment of society,” while Prof Chandrashekaran, NERIST R&D Dean Prof MB Sharma, Prof BK Singh, and Neeraj Singh Meena delivered motivational speecheson the life of Dr Ambedkar.
A documentary on Dr Ambedkar’s life was presented by final year student Mela AN Lyngdoh, and a motivational speech on the life of Dr Ambedkar was delivered by forestry department first-year studentPasang Doima, the release said.
