Intricate scenario in the APSSB

Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I want to bring some intricacies regarding the APSSB to the fore. Last year, many vacancies for the posts of MTS and constables were floated. The MTS exam was successfully conducted and the candidates were provided with jobs according to the merit list.

Here, I want to bring to the fore the scenario that unfolded. It was brought to notice that many highly qualified candidates were selected for the posts of MTS, such as cooks, washermen, water carriers, etc. Many of them didn’t turn up for the appointment and many resigned just after 2-3 months.

Furthermore, the waitlisted vacancies were also minimal compared to the candidates who had quit.

My point of view is why not conduct the above mentioned posts of MTS through an advertisement solely based on walk-in interview but adding skill tests for the same. Eventually, skill is the utmost requirement.

Pertaining to the unemployment bar rising each year, some initiatives must be considered out of the box. Highly qualified candidates don’t go for such jobs, whereas the lesser qualified ones are waiting for any menial job. It’s about time the authorities concerned looked into the matter and brought some inclusivity in its policies.

The candidates at the bottom must be uplifted, so that they can contribute to the welfare of the state.
