PASIGHAT, 30 Aug: The agronomy department of the College of Agriculture (CoA) here in East Siang district conducted a training programme on ‘Enhancing groundnut productivity and profitability using modern agro-techniques in Arunachal Pradesh’ on Friday.
One hundred farmers participated in the programme, which was inaugurated by CoA Dean Dr BN Hazarika.
During the programme, Drs Ajayakumar KM, Abhishek Gowda AP and Dr Navya V Bhat delivered lectures and presentations on cultivation, scope and benefits of groundnut.
They advised SHGs to “cultivate groundnut in commercial way,” and said that “with considerable production, a small-scale processing unit may be established for value-addition.”
Altogether 1,800 kgs of hybrid seeds and organic manures were distributed to the farmers.
The inputs supplied in the training programme are sufficient to cultivate groundnut on 18-20 hectares of land in Kiyit, Jampani, Bango, Rani, Riga, Mirbuk, Napit, and Yagrung villages.
