NCORD organises volleyball tournament

KHONSA, 14 Dec: The Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) of Tirap district organised a volleyball tournament, themed ‘Towards healthy, drug-free life’,at Nehru Stadium here on Saturday.

The winners of the tournament were the Tirap police, who received a cash prize of Rs 10,000, while Deomali-based Life Care Foundation secured the runner-up position and won a cash prize of Rs 8,000.

In a heart-warming gesture, the Tirap police, led by SP Singjatla Singpho, decided to share their prize money equally, and contributed Rs 5,000 each to Tupi-based New Life Foundation and Charju-based Care Me Home Rehabilitation Centre teams as a gesture of goodwill.

Earlier, Tirap DC Techu Aran emphasised the importance of a drug-free lifestyle, and urged recovering individuals to avoid bad influences and act as role models and ambassadors, spreading awareness about the detrimental effects of drug addiction.

The DC also appealed to the inmates of the three participating rehabilitation centres to support the district administration and the Tirap police in identifying drug peddlers. He assured confidentiality and cash rewards for informers who assist in this effort.

The DC commended the management teams of the rehabilitation centres for their dedicated service in transforming lives and guiding individuals from “darkness to light.”

The tournament was attended also by, among others,IAS probationer Numeet Singh, ASP Aditya Singh, DSP Togum Gongo, DSO (Sports) Noah Mongku, IPR representative Gawang Sumpa, and SI Wangjan Lowang. (DIPRO)
