Editor,
Through the columns of your newspaper, I wish to bring attention to an issue of paramount importance regarding the upcoming recruitment process for trained graduate teachers (TGT) by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the appointment of contractual teachers under the Integrated Scheme for School Education (ISSE).
It has come to my notice that there is a lack of clarity on whether the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) or the Arunachal Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (APTET) qualifications will be mandated for these recruitments. As a concerned citizen and stakeholder in the state’s education system, I strongly urge the authorities to ensure that candidates who lack these essential qualifications are not allowed to participate in the TGT recruitment process or be appointed as contractual teachers.
Making CTET or APTET mandatory is critical for maintaining the quality and standards of education in Arunachal Pradesh. Teacher eligibility tests are designed to assess the competence, knowledge and aptitude required for teaching. Allowing candidates without these certifications to occupy crucial teaching positions would not only compromise the quality of education but also undermine the efforts and hard work of qualified and capable candidates who meet these requirements but fail to secure recruitment due to unfair competition.
The education department must ensure that CTET or APTET is strictly mandatory for all teaching positions, whether permanent or contractual. This step will not only promote fairness but also align with the national standard for teacher recruitment, ensuring that our students receive education from adequately qualified educators.
Failure to implement these necessary measures would amount to a grave injustice to the deserving candidates who have diligently prepared and obtained the required qualifications. It is imperative for the government to recognise the significance of this issue and act promptly to maintain transparency and fairness in the recruitment process.
I sincerely hope that this matter will receive the attention it deserves from the authorities concerned and the public at large.
