SHILLONG, 16 Dec: A five-day management development programme (MDP) for mid-level government officers of Arunachal Pradesh, being organised by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research & Analysis (DAPJAKCPR) at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Shillong, commenced here in Meghalaya on Monday.
The programme, scheduled from 16 to 20 December, aims to facilitate 30 experienced officers with over 10 years of service with the skills and insights required to enhance governance and public service delivery.
During the inaugural session, DAPJAKCPR Centre Head Dr. Sanjeev Ningombam highlighted the significance of the programme in fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency in governance.
IIM-Shillong director prof. D.P Goyal underscored the critical role of administrative officers in realising the mission of good governance in Arunachal. He encouraged the participants to “adopt principles of integrity, take initiatives, and maintain a people-centric approach in their work.”
Prof. Goyal further urged the officers to embrace change, adapt to evolving dynamics, and focus on continuous learning to enhance their capabilities and their organisations’ performance.
The five-day training will focus on topics such as leadership and team-building, project management, technology and digital transformation in governance, and financial management.
Special emphasis will be placed on technology and digital transformation, with sessions dedicated to leveraging digital tools in governance, covering e-governance platforms, GIS-based planning; data-driven decision-making and cybersecurity; and data privacy in government systems, focusing on practical strategies to secure sensitive government data.
