Agripreneurship training for youths underway

PASIGHAT, 18 Feb: A three-day training programme on agripreneurship development among unemployed youths of Arunachal Pradesh began at the social science department of the College of Horticulture and Forestry (CHF) here in East Siang district on Tuesday.

Twenty-five youths from different districts are participating in training, demonstration and field visits as part of the programme.

In the inaugural session, CHF Dean Prof BN Hazarika said that “agri-horti-based entrepreneurship is nowadays gaining importance among the entrepreneurs to get higher net returns by utilising limited resources and realising the profitability and sustainability of enterprise,” the CHF informed in a release.

Prof Dr DK Pandey spoke on optimum utilisation and mobilisation of existing resources and maintaining the ecological, social and economic balance for enhancing livelihood, while Social Science Prof Dr BR Phukan highlighted the scope and importance of entrepreneurship development in the Northeast region.

Social Science Associate Professor Dr Lakshmi Dhar Hataiinformed the participants that “agripreneurship ecosystem is one of the alternative means for the stability of farm income, and supports the growth of new agri business.”

Course coordinator Dr Prasanta Sharma spoke about “entrepreneurial process and various stages of establishing enterprises in Arunachal,” the release stated.
