World Down Syndrome Day observed by H-Spring Foundation

PASIGHAT, 21 Mar: H-Spring Foundation observed the World Down Syndrome Day – a special event dedicated to raising awareness and promoting inclusivity for individuals with Down Syndrome – with the theme ‘Celebrating hope’, here in East Siang district on Friday.

The event brought together children, parents, educators, and supporters.

H-Spring Foundation chairperson Dr Oimang Megu reiterated the foundation’s commitment to supporting children with special needs. The event was hosted by the foundation’s special educator Dina Pabin.

During the programme, neuro physiotherapist Dr Kapong Modi delivered a talk on the importance of early intervention and the role of physiotherapy in early interventions, while Chandraka Mili delivered a speech on the role of special education for children with special needs.

Roken Nokar talked about the importance of speech therapy, and demonstrated basic activities which can be done at home, and Getinam Pertin delivered a lecture on the importance of behaviour therapy and how inappropriate behaviour can be replaced with appropriate behaviour.

Bada Perme shared his knowledge of the importance of diet and fitness for children with special needs.

Parents shared their experiences, challenges, and triumphs in raising children with Down Syndrome.

The observance of the World Down Syndrome Day served as a reminder of the importance of embracing diversity and advocating the rights and inclusion of individuals with Down Syndrome. (DIPRO)
