Editor,
Not a day passes by when we don’t get to read reports about seizure of drugs and arrest of drug peddlers, which is very concerning.
Yes it is true that this menace of drugs requires an effort from the top leadership to handle, but we as citizens of Arunachal Pradesh are also partly responsible.
Indeed, education and unemployment are the major cause of this menace, but one must keep in mind that there is supply of drugs because there is demand for drugs. I would like to request all my brothers and sisters of Arunachal to be cautious with regard to this devil called drug, and also request shopkeepers and liquor shops to refrain from selling tobacco and alcohol to underaged children. And to all the adults: if you see that a child is smoking or drinking, whether the child is yours or not, ask him/her not to with love and patience; and above all please start with yourselves.
Above all, I would like to urge the state government to create a healthy ecosystem of education and employment opportunities, because for the lost youths, drugs are just some rupees away.
