HAPOLI, 3 Oct: A ‘modified silencers surrender programme’ was organised by the Ziro Royal Enfielders (ZRE), in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri district administration, at the district secretariat complex here on Friday.
The programme was held in the presence of SP Keni Bagra, SDO Rani Perme, AC Radhe Tatung, HoDs, officials and police personnel, members of the ZRE, and others.
ZRE chief Nending Ommo highlighted the functioning of ZRE and the objective of the initiative, which isaimed at promoting responsible riding and reducing noise pollution.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Bagra lauded the efforts of the ZRE and urged all riders to “ride with peace and not with noise.”
He also administered a pledge to ZRE members to drive responsibly and spread awareness on road discipline.
In a symbolic step towards curbing noise pollution, surrendered modified bike silencers were destroyed in front of the gathering, using an excavator.
Among others, DMO Dr Millo Kunya, TDO Tai Arun and OC (Traffic) Hano Lailang were also present at the event.
The initiative also marked the 9th foundation day of the ZRE motorcycle club. (DIPRO)
