NAHARLAGUN, 3 Oct: The Naharlagun police have apprehended an accused for collecting money from unemployed youths with false assurance of providing them with jobs.
The absconding accused, identified as Zarli Gongo (40), from Dumporijo in Upper Subansiri district,was apprehended from the Jote area by the Naharlagun police
during an operation carried out under the guidance of Naharlagun PS OC Inspector Krishnendu Dev, assisted by SI Tapu Sarke and a team from the Chimpu police station, according to a release issued by Naharlagun Additional SP Chukhu Nanu Bui on Friday.
Earlier, on 16 September, a complaint had been received at the Naharlagun police station against Zarli Gongo, alleging that he had collected money from unemployed youths with the false assurance of providing jobs. The accused claimed to be operating a firm named Subansiri Private Security Service and Job Placement Agency at Model Village, Naharlagun. Accordingly, a case U/S 318(3) BNS was registered, the release said.
The release further informed that preliminary investigation revealed that in between July and August 2025, the accused fraudulently collected amounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 from several unemployed youths in cash and through online transfers (GPay), on the pretext of providing jobs such as gunmen, store keeper, security guard, and security supervisor in various establishments.
ICR SP Jummar Basar has appealed to the public, particularly unemployed youths, to remain vigilant and not fall prey to such fraudulent job assurances.
