Editor,

We wish to draw the attention of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to a serious concern regarding the noticeable variation in the difficulty level between the civil engineering and agriculture engineering question papers in the APPSC Junior Engineer Common Recruitment Examination (JECRE)-2025.

With document verification scheduled to begin on 9 March, the matter has become urgent. It has been widely observed that the agriculture engineering paper was comparatively easier, resulting in unusually high scores among agriculture candidates, while civil engineering candidates faced a relatively tougher paper.

Since both streams are competing for the same 66 posts under the rural works department and water resources department through a common examination, the absence of any scaling or normalisation mechanism may lead to an unfair advantage for candidates who appeared for the easier paper, thereby affecting the balance of the final merit list.

We therefore respectfully urge the APPSC to introduce an appropriate scaling or normalisation process to ensure fairness and maintain a level playing field for all candidates.
