Editor,

We would like to draw the attention of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) towards the issue of not allowing final semester BEd students in the trained graduate teacher (TGT) examination, the advertisement of which was published on 23 March.

Many deserving candidates who have also completed their masters are currently in their final semester of BEd course and they will get their complete degree certificate before the final stage of recruitment, ie, viva voce, which will tentatively be held in October 2026, according to the APPSCCE calendar. However, they are not eligible to apply for the TGT examination due to the requirement of possessing the final certificate at the time of application.

This creates difficulty for hardworking students who are fully qualified academically and are ready to serve and transform the education scenario of the state in their capacity as teachers.

Moreover, many deserving students who have completed their master’s but are currently in the final semester of BEd course have already been deprived and lost the opportunity to appear in PGT examination.

Allowing final semester students to apply provisionally, subject to submission of final marksheet or certificate before the interview or document verification stage, will ensure equal opportunity and help in selecting talented candidates for the teaching profession.

Therefore, we humbly request the authority concerned to kindly consider inclusion of final semester students in the eligibility criteria for the TGT examination. This step will benefit many aspiring teachers and strengthen the education system.
