TEZU, 31 Mar: A common facility centre (CFC), equipped with hand-driven knitting machines for self-help groups (SHGs), was inaugurated in Bekhuliang village in Sunpura block of Lohit district on Tuesday by MLA Dr Mohesh Chai.
The CFC has been established under the Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme, sponsored by the NABARD and implemented by the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).
Addressing the gathering, Dr Chai described the occasion as historic, highlighting the transformation of Bekhuliang from a remote village into a hub of productive enterprises. He emphasised the importance of income generation alongside savings,and appreciated the progress made by SHG members.
He expressed his intent to introduce training in computerised knitting machines in the future and assured support upon successful implementation. He further stressed the need for stronger market linkagesand sustainable entrepreneurship, and acknowledged the vital contribution of women to India’s economic growth.
Sotailum Bellai appreciated the collaborative efforts of the ArSRLM and the NABARD, and acknowledged the improved connectivity in the region under the leadership of the MLA. He encouraged all stakeholders to effectively utilise institutional support for sustained development.
BCLH (Non-Farm) Chanyo Wangsa delivered a presentation highlighting the journey of ‘Bekhuliang Ki Bunaai’ since 2023, showcasing its growth, challenges, and achievements.
ZPM Gulapso Bellai congratulated the SHG entrepreneurs for their dedication and achievements, while DIPRO Nyatum Doke emphasised the importance of maintaining quality, consistency, and strong market linkages for sustainable livelihoods.
NABARD AGM Kamal Roy elaborated the NABARD’s initiatives in promoting SHGs and rural livelihoods. He highlighted emerging opportunities such as ONDC, rural mart, and rural haats, and stressed the importance of GI tagging, compliance, and formal business registration for ‘Bekhuliang Ki Bunaai’.
He also underlined the critical role of cooperatives in rural development, and envisioned Bekhuliang as a potential exposure site in the future.
A success story was shared by Theptomai Bellai from Bedagam village, who narrated her journey of perseverance and achievement despite geographical challenges. (DIPRO)
