YINGKIONG, 31 Mar: The three-day 9th edition of the district-level Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy (HDMT) Football and Volleyball Tournaments for U-16 boys and girls, which commenced on 29 March, concluded at the general ground here in Upper Siang district on Tuesday.
The closing ceremony was attended by former ZPC Lumgeng Litin, and Simong West-II GPC Genom Tekseng, among others.
In an exciting boys’ football final between Yingkiong-11 and Mariyang-11, the Yingkiong team emerged victorious, defeating Mariyang 4-2 in a penalty shootout. The winning team was awarded the trophy, medals, and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
In the girls’ football category, Yingkiong team secured the championship title by defeating Mariyang team 3-0, receiving the trophy, medals, and a cash prize of Rs 50,000. The runners-up Mariyang teams in boys’ and girls’ categories were awarded trophies, medals, and cash prizes of Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively.
In volleyball, Tuting block (boys) and Yingkiong block (girls) emerged champions after defeating Yingkiong block and Mariyang block, respectively, in their final matches. The winners were awarded trophies, medals, and cash prizes of Rs 50,000 each, while the runners-up teams received Rs 25,000 along with trophies and medals.
Individual awards were also presented to outstanding players. The best football player awards were conferred on Aniyang Litin (Yingkiong block) in the boys’ category and Rebika Langkam (Mariyang block) in the girls’ category. In volleyball, the best player awards went to Obang Peyang (Tuting block) and Disha Nyodo (Yingkiong block).
The prizes were distributed by the former ZPC and the GPC, along with Assistant Commissioner Binti Mibang, DVO Dr Theru Borang, and Dr Obang Modi.
Khonsa West win hat-trick of titles
In Tirap district, Khonsa West constituency claimed a hat-trick of titles, winning the girls’ and the boys’ volleyball and the girls’ football tournaments of the district-level U-16 HDMT, which concluded in Khonsa on Tuesday.
In the boys’ football, Khonsa East defeated Khonsa West to win the trophy.
The runner-up in the girls’ volleyball were Khonsa East, while Borduria-Bogapani constituency were runners-up in boys’ volleyball and girls’ football.
Ngome Lowang and Mutang Tazin, both from Khonsa West constituency, were declared as best volleyball players in the girls’ and the boys’ category, respectively.
In football, Pobu Mannu and Hongwang Hakhun, both from Khonsa West constituency, were declared the best players in the girls’ and the boys’ category, respectively.
Cash prizes were also distributed to the winners, runners-up, and best players.
The winners in each category received Rs 50,000 and the runners-up received Rs 25,000. Rs 10,000 each was awarded to the best players.
