NAHARLAGUN, 31 Mar: The Naharlagun police apprehended a drug peddler and seized suspected heroin from his possession.
Acting on credible information, a police team led by Naharlagun Police Station OC Inspector K Dev, and comprising SI Vivek Linggi, HC K Samyor, Constables AY Dangngo and Sanu Raj T, and Lady Constable W Lowang conducted an operation on Monday in the presence of Executive Magistrate Khoda Bath, under the supervision of Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega.
During the search operation, the police team seized 19 vials containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 24.64 grams (including vial weight), one plastic pouch containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 5.26 grams (including pouch weight), 132 empty vials, and nine used syringes from the rented accommodation of one Tajar Taji (30), a resident of Dumporijo, Upper Subansiri district.
A case has been registered at the Naharlagun police station under Sections 21(b)/27/29 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway, the SP said in a release.
