NAHARLAGUN, 31 Mar: The Naharlagun police held a coordination meeting with all Bazaar Welfare Committees (BWCs) here on Monday under the chairmanship of Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega.
The meeting was attended by the additional superintendent of police, the SDPO, the officers-in-charge of Naharlagun, Papu Hills, Nirjuli, and Banderdewa police stations, and the chairmen/presidents and secretaries of the BWCs from the respective areas.
During the meeting, the BWCs were urged to promptly report any instance of forcible donation or extortion by any union, association, or individual. The police officials assured that strict legal action would be taken upon receipt of such complaints.
The committees were also encouraged to share information regarding any illegal activities in their areas to facilitate timely police intervention. They were further advised to install CCTV cameras at strategic locations to enhance surveillance and improve overall security.
Members of the BWCs requested increased police patrolling in vulnerable areas. Issues related to cleanliness and other local concerns were also discussed during the meeting.
The SP reiterated the Naharlagun police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and strengthening community policing through active public cooperation.
