ITANAGAR, 1 Apr: Arunachal Pradesh has recorded the highest goods and services tax (GST) revenue growth across all states and union territories in India for the cumulative period from April 2025 to March 2026, registering an overall growth rate of 27.5 percent compared to the same period in the previous financial year.

“At 27.5% overall growth, Arunachal Pradesh is growing at over four times the national GST growth rate of 6.4% – a feat unmatched by any other state in the country,” the central department stated in a release.

In a fiscal landscape where most Indian states are posting modest single-digit gains, Arunachal has emerged as an extraordinary outlier, the release said.

According to official GST data released by the finance ministry as on 1 April, 2026, the central tax formations in Arunachal collected Rs 526 crore during April 2025 to March 2026, as compared to Rs 407 crore in the corresponding period of 2024-25, a significant increase in absolute terms at the central level.

The combined grand total, encompassing collections by both central and state formations, stood at Rs 1,527 crore for the current year against Rs 1,201 crore in the previous year – an increase of Rs 326 crore.

Central formations contributed Rs 206 crore in CGST and Rs 246 crore in SGST for 2025-26, compared to Rs 150 crore and Rs 183 crore, respectively in 2024-25. The central formation growth of 29.4 percent was the highest among all states in the centre’s column, while the state formation growth of 26.5 percent was equally dominant, placing Arunachal at the pinnacle of state-level fiscal performance, the data said.

Nationwide, India’s total domestic GST collections grew by 6.4 percent to Rs 16,31,769 crore during April 2025 to March 2026.

“Yet, against this backdrop, Arunachal Pradesh’ 27.5 percent surge stands in a league entirely its own, illustrating the transformative potential of India’s Northeastern frontier as economic integration deepens and infrastructure investment bears fruit,” the release added.
