DAPORIJO, 2 Apr: Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Disaster Management Authority Chairman Tasso Gumbo stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination, timely response, and proactive measures to minimise risks and safeguard life and property during the monsoon season.

Chairing a monsoon preparedness meeting here on Thursday, the DC instructed all officials concerned to remain alert and ensure that necessary manpower and resources are strategically positioned during the monsoon period. Further, he directed all outpost administrative officers and HoDs to remain at station. They have been instructed to leave the station only for emergency purposes, after obtaining leave of absence.

District Disaster Management Officer R Marbom delivered a presentation regarding the district’s monsoon preparedness and disaster management plan. She called for checking rampant earth-cutting and felling of trees to avoid manmade disaster.

Discussions were held on preparedness measures to be undertaken by various departments in anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season. All departments were directed to clearly define and adhere to their roles and responsibilities in disaster management, and to ensure preparedness for any eventuality.

Availability of essential commodities, including LPG and fuel stocks, was also reviewed.

The meeting was attended by ZPC Jyoti Sikhom, SP Pawan Yadav, and ADC Biaro Sorum, along with all administrative officers and heads of offices. (DIPRO)
