TAMEN, 2 April: The first coordination meeting of the Persin zilla constituency in Kamle district was held at the inspection bungalow here on Thursday, under the chairmanship of Zilla Parishad Member (ZPM) Biku Join.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination among panchayat members, reviewing upcoming programmes, and outlining future developmental activities for the Persin constituency. Emphasis was laid on ensuring effective collaboration at the grassroots level for improved governance and service delivery.
During the meeting, panchayat leaders, led by ZPM Join, expressed their appreciation for Raga MLA Rotom Tebin, Kamle DC JT Obi, and DPDO Padi Tapa for their prompt response in addressing the longstanding grievances of the people of Persin block.
The leaders particularly welcomed the decision to appoint a separate member secretary for the Persin zilla constituency and to base administrative officers in Raga along with supporting staff. Raga Assistant Commissioner Tamish Mugli has been appointed as member secretary, while Hui Tab has been designated as PTA of the Persin zilla constituency.
The development follows a formal representation submitted by ZPM Join, highlighting the hardships faced by local residents and panchayat representatives. Due to administrative challenges, people were earlier required to travel over 300 kilometres – crossing Lower Subansiri, Keyi Panyor, Papum Pare, and even North Lakhimpur district of Assam – for routine official work. In contrast, Raga is located just about 30 minutes from Persin, making it a more accessible and practical administrative centre.
Join emphasised the importance of maintaining transparency and strengthening grassroots governance to ensure efficient and timely delivery of services to the people.
All six gram panchayat chairpersons, along with gram panchayat members of Persin zilla constituency were present at the meeting.
