Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention to the APPSCE Commission regarding the syllabus pattern of the optional subject. The syllabus given in the APPSCE handbook for the chemistry was that of the Bachelor of Science (B Sc.), but to our surprise, 70% of the question in examination came from Master of Science (M Sc.).
It was very disheartening to see that, many questions in paper were just copy pasted from NET/SLET exams conducted by UGC. The standard followed by NET/SLET is of the M Sc. standard. And before printing any question paper in such high level competitive examination, the standard level should be followed and moderated by some highly qualified person specialized in that subject and more importantly the syllabus should be maintained.
When one is preparing for such competitive examination, one always sticks to the topics given in the syllabus. Therefore, I would like to ask the commission either to reduce the cut-off marks of chemistry or re-conduct the examination.
Yours,
Tasso Byai
