ROING, 8 Oct: The finals of the 9th (boys’) and the third (girls’) district level U-17 Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament in Lower Dibang Valley were played at the Meka general playground here on Friday.
In the boys’ category, GHSS Roing defeated IPS Ezengo by 5-0 goals, while in the girls’ category IPS Ezengo emerged victorious after defeating GSS Jia by 1-0 goal.
Organized by the education department, the tournament this year witnessed the participation of 14 teams, including five girls’ teams.
In the boys’ category, Alako Linggi won the best player title, while the top scorer was Junba Meto of GHSS Roing, with a total of 11 goals. Ekeme Molo from IPS Ezengo was declared the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
In the girls’ category, Ena Lama won the title of the best player, while Lame Linggi from IPS Ezengo was the highest scorer with five goals. Jumpi Lego from GSS Jia was adjudged the best goalkeeper.
DDSE Deepak Tayeng, Roing ZPM Komji Linggi and BEO Obang Langkam addressed the valedictory function.
