KANGKU, Dec 17: A primary health center (PHC) was inaugurated here in Lower Siang district on Friday by Likabali MLA Kardo Nyigyor amidst the presence of Lower Siang deputy commissioner Marto Riba
Earlier, the remote circle of Kangku had only a health sub center.
The PHC was sanctioned in the year 2019 however; its construction was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The present PHC would be run by one doctor, nurse and a health and wellness officer.
Congratulating the people of the area, Nyigyor said, “Kangku being a border circle, the new PHC will not only be beneficial for the locals of the area but also for those from the neighboring villages of Dhemaji district in Assam. In case of an emergency, the public from both the sides of the border can avail the medical facilities rather than going all the way to the Dhemaji or Likabali towns,” he said.
The MLA also assured to increase the manpower of the PHC soon. “Quarters for the doctors, a barrack for the nurses and a proper compound wall will also be constructed,” he added.
Among others, Lower Siang superintendent of police Kushal Pal Singh, divisional forest officer Taba Bajum, Kangku circle officer Kalen Saroh and Gaon Buras from different villages of the Kangku circle were present on the occasion.
