PASIGHAT, Sep 16: One of the 250 National Teachers’ Award recipients of this year, Kangkep Perme, who is a TGT at Upper Primary School Jarkong, cried foul at his recent district transfer in the name of rationalization and .
Perme, who had represented Arunachal Pradesh and received the prestigious award, said that co-awardees from other states were given a warm reception back home in their respective states, but he was received with a transfer.
“…here in our state I am received with a district transfer order which is really worrying”.
Affirming that he was not against rationalization of teachers, and that he was ready to go sooner or later, Perme, however, expressed worry over the timing of the transfer saying, “at this particular time when all students, staffs, parents alike are happy and discussing, praising and drawing inspiration from my achievement, I am being transferred by our Education Department, that too in a remote place”.
“The Government of Arunachal Pradesh should have at least honoured the dignity of my medal and certificate of national level as I represent the teaching community”, added Perme.
Perme also appealed to the state government and his authorities at the Directorate and Secretarial levels to reconsider his transfer in a remote place at this moment, reasoning that such punitive transfer to a national awardee at this juncture would set a bad precedence to all hard working teachers as well as young students.
The mass rationalization of teachers, especially in Itanagar and Pasighat has reportedly affected several students, who are also praying to the state government to stop the transfer of teachers during mid-session.
In this regard, hundreds of Science students from IGJGHSS and DEMGHSS, Pasighat have appealed to the state government through local MLA Kaling Moyong, the DC and DDSE Pasighat to retain the teachers at least for this session so that they would not suffer in the nearing board examinations.
