ITANAGAR, 21 Jun: Matters related to the comprehensive annual modular survey (CAMS) and survey on AYUSH will be addressed during the 79th round of the state-level training programme on the National Sample Survey (NSS), which got underway at the economics & statistics directorate here on Monday.
Delivering the keynote address, the NSO’s Dibrugarh (Assam)-based RO DDG KM Singh emphasised on the importance of CAMS, which, he said, “is introduced to cater the emerging need of information on high frequency socioeconomic indicators that are not available from any other sources like administrative data, etc, required for SDG indicators for global comparisons as per United Nation mandates.”
Economics & Statistics Director B Megu welcomed the participants from all the districts and urged the field officials to be sincere and “capture accurate data while canvassing the survey.”
The director also reiterated that “the quality of the data and the timeline shall not be compromised at any cost.”
“Unlike in the previous NSS rounds, the data of this round will be captured on the computer assisted personal interview mode in tablets for the first time in the state,” a release from the economics & statistics department said.
The duration of the current round will be from July this year to June next year.
Seventy statistical field personnel from all the districts are attending the training programme.
