KANUBARI, 30 Aug: Fifty-four progressive farmers from Longhua, Sangsatham and Banfera villages participated in a ‘training-cum-planting material distribution programme of Assam lemon’, organised here by the Longding KVK on Monday.
During the programme, KVK Head (i/c) A Kirankumar Singh advised the farmers to “follow the systematic plantation method to get higher production and productivity of the fruit.”
He also advised them to “follow the intercropping of leguminous crops in the spaces available between the plants in order to get the extra income until the fruiting starts.”
Horticulture scientist Dr Thejanguli Angami highlighted the scientific way of planting Assam lemon.
The farmers were provided with 50 planting materials procured from Tinsukia (Assam)-based Citrus Research Station, the KVK said.
