RUKSIN, 30 Oct: The police here in East Siang district nabbed a drug peddler from NH 515 on Sunday morning and seized suspected heroin weighing 24.89 gms from her possession.
A police team, led by Ruksin SDPO Tasi Darang, made the arrest based on a tip-off. The woman, who has been identified as Kangkan Doley (28), a resident of Torajan village in Assam’s Dhemaji district, was caught carrying the drug in a soap case. She was arrested under multiple sections of the NDPS Act.
The police also arrested the driver of the autorickshaw (AS-22-C-7359) that the woman was travelling in. He has been identified as Gandhiram Doley.
The police team comprised SI C Joseph, Head Constables P Kakki and K Ori, and Constables T Paleng, B Ngulom and K Potom, under the supervision of East Siang SP Sumit Kr Jha.
