Dear Editor,
March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day as a tribute to strength of a woman and honour them for their achievements. It is observed that nowadays many women of marriageable age are postponing marriage or chose to remain single as they have realised that only economic independence can empower them. Women have come a long way in all spheres which were once considered exclusive male bastions.
They are successful journalists, lawyers, pilots, astronauts, police/armed forces officers, film personalities, politicians, writers, CEOs and what not.
They are competing shoulder to shoulder with men in all arenas. They want to come forward and contribute in building up new and progressive India. It is need of the hour to encourage their participation in the decision making at home, in the community and at the national level. Here’s wishing ’Happy Women’s Day’
Yours,
T. S. Karthik
