TAWANG, Mar 18: The Textile and Handicrafts department and Youth Action for Social Welfare, Tawang have jointly organized ‘A World of Opportunity Awaits Your Craftsmanship’, a programme under Hastkala Sahyog Shivir at Zomkhang Hall here on Saturday.
The Hastkala Sahyog Shivir is an initiative of the Union Ministry of Textiles to give awareness to the weavers about different schemes and its benefits.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju exhorted the artisans to showcase their talent through such platforms.
The MoS also dwelt on how modern technique and equipment can ensure growth and development of the textile and handicraft sector through quality improvement.
Artisans and weavers present were enlightened on increasing value of products through technological upgrade, issuance of credit facilities, buyer-seller meets. The programme also saw distribution of tool kits
Among others, Senior Director S K Jha and Regional Director (NER) N K Palai from the office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), besides Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Anuj Sharma attended the programme. (DIPRO)
