DNGC college day celebration concludes

PASIGHAT, 18 Nov: The 43rd annual College Day celebration of Dera Natung Govt College (DNGC) here concluded on Saturday with a valedictory function in the college’s Jubilee Hall.

The function was attended by, among others, Health Minister Alo Libang, Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso, Ward 4 Corporator Techi Mema, and RGU Registrar Dr NT Rikam.

Addressing the gathering, DNGC Principal Dr MQ Khan presented a brief on the events conducted in the last three days, and congratulated the winners of various competitions.

DNGCSU general secretary Techi Tado Tara submitted memorandums to Libang and Kaso. He also submitted a two-point memorandum to Libang, seeking construction of two galleries for spectators at the college playground, and construction of four Type-4 quarters for the college’s faculty members.

He further submitted a memorandum to Kaso, seeking repairing of the internal road in the college campus and installation of solar street lamps.

Kaso in his address advised the students to “go for quality education” and to “be honest and strive for the best while focusing on quality, not quantity, in your endeavours.”

He assured to have the internal road repaired and to have solar street lamps installed on priority.

Libang in his address congratulated the winners, and advised the students to “use college life to build the foundation for better and successful life, going forward to serve the state in various capacities.”

Earlier, a cultural night was organised on 15 November. It was attended by, among others, Nampong MLA Laisam Simai and AAPSU IPR secretary Tate Tayam.

On the evening of the 16th, Mr and Miss DNGC-2023 contest was organised. While Runka Effa (BA 5th semester) was adjudged Mr DNGC-2023, Habu Yapak (BCom 5th semester) was adjudged Miss DNGC-2023.

Among the attendees were Kanubari MLA Gabriel D Wangsu, State Information Commisioner Gumjum Haider, and AAPSU women cell convener Techi Tannu.

Four houses – Gorichen, Kelingon, Khyarisatam and Piji – named after important mountain peaks of Arunachal, competed in literary events like quiz competition, essay writing competition, and painting, cartooning, extempore speech, debate and poem recitation competitions. In the games and sports competitions, members of the four houses competed in shot put, discuss throw and javelin throw.

The theme of the celebration was ‘Go green for sustainable tomorrow’. (DIPRO)
