Govt expected to put a curb on rampant earth-cutting

Chief Minister Pema Khandu while attending the foundation day celebration of the Itanagar Municipal Corporation on Monday expressed concern over rampant earth-cutting in the twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun. Finally someone at the helm of affairs has raised concern over this issue. Indeed rampant earth-cutting being witnessed in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) should concern everyone. Apart from causing immense damage to the ecology of the region, it also poses a serious threat to the human settlements.

Illegal earth-cutting has already taken a lot of lives and also caused massive destruction to public as well as private properties. Every year during monsoon season the ICR witnesses catastrophic destruction because of the rampant earth-cutting. Considering all of this, one can hope that the government will come out with a plan to tackle it. Now that the CM has personally taken up cudgel against rampant earth-cutting in the ICR, there is hope and belief that something will be done to put a curb on it.
