RUKSIN, Sept 19: Alleging that an innocent Assamese farming family has been warned of being ousted from Jampani area in East Siang district, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) of Assam has submitted a petition to Ruksin ADC, pleading him to look into the matter and punish the guilty.
The AJYCP leaders noted that the people of Jonai (Assam) have been maintaining peaceful coexistence with people of Arunachal. Such, undue harassment over innocent Assamese family in Arunachal would derail the cordial relation, they said.
Ruksin ADC Tapyam Pada, who is dealing with the case, said there might be certain reason behind the clash and he has called on land owner Tate Saroh and Sika-Bamin Bane Kebang members for interrogation.
The ADC, however, asked both parties not to take the issue in a communal way as law will take its own course of action and punish the guilty.
According to reports, Sika-Bamin Bane Kebang conducted a meeting during September and took decision to oust one Saniram Deka, a tenant farmer of Jampani, who has been surviving with agriculture activities there. Consequently, the Kebang forced land owner Tate Saroh to evict the family from his plot within a period of one year, but he has failed to do so.
The Kebang again conducted meeting on September 11 last and set a deadline of six months to allegedly drive out the family. But interestingly, the Kebang has not cited any reason for their move to oust the farmer.
