JOTE, 7 Mar: The National Institute of Technology here organised a voter awareness programme themed ‘Mera pehla vote desh ke liye’ from 28 February to 6 March to encourage first-time voters to participate in the electoral process.
“Almost 200 students participated in various events, such as pledge-taking ceremony, selfie point picture competition, slogan writing competition, and quiz competition,” the institute informed in a release, adding that a rally was also organised as part of the awareness programme.
Addressing the seminar, Sangdupota CO Dr H Panggeng highlighted “the importance of first-time voters,” while Jote booth-level officer Techi Janu and Poma booth-level officer Mindu Chukla “explained the functions of the electronic voting machines and various forms for the first-time voters,” the release stated.
The event was organised in collaboration with the NSS unit of the NIT.
