RGUSU seeks CM’s intervention for infrastructure and facilities

ITANAGAR, 8 Jan: The Rajiv Gandhi University Students’ Union (RGUSU) has appealed to the Chief Minister to take necessary steps to improve the basic infrastructure and facilities at RGU for quality education and the overall development of the institution.

In a representation submitted to the CM, the Union, on behalf of the students, faculty, and staff of RGU, stated that frequent power outages

disrupt academic activities and essential services, including research labs, hostels, and administrative operations. The Union called for the government’s immediate intervention to ensure a stable and uninterrupted electricity supply.

The Union also highlighted the inconsistent and inadequate water supply, which continues to create hardships for students and staff. It demanded the installation of adequate water storage and filtration systems to ensure safe drinking water. “Most of the time, water has been supplied directly from the river using RGU water tankers and trucks due to the water shortage,” the representation stated.

Other demands of the Union include the installation of high-mast lights at key locations for a secure environment in the university area, and the creation of footpaths for night patrolling to improve campus security and prevent untoward incidents.

Further, the Union pointed out the acute shortage of faculty in several departments, which is affecting the quality of education. It demanded immediate faculty recruitment drives to maintain the academic standards of the university.
