USTM hosts seminar on sociology of health & wellbeing

KHANAPARA, 27 Mar: The sociology department at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), organised a ‘seminar-cum-value-added course’ on the topic ‘Sociology of health & wellbeing’ at the NKC auditorium on Wednesday.

Attending the first session of the seminar, senior consultant in the congenital heart surgery department at Health City Hospital, Dr Nayem Raja focused on essential lifesaving skills, particularly in relation to cardiac emergencies. He also addressed common stigmas associated with various diseases.

During the second session of the seminar, Dr Mofida Khatun, assistant professor in the department of kayachikitsha at UHAN, IAMC, highlighted Ayurveda as an alternative approach to wellbeing. She provided an overview of Ayurveda, and elaborated its fundamental practices for health enhancement.
