Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to bring to the attention of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) chairman and secretary the persistent issues faced by aspirants due to the commission’s poor digital infrastructure and lack of transparency.
It has been over three days since the commission announced the release of admit cards for the assistant engineer (AE) recruitment test, yet aspirants are still unable to download them. The official website remains non-functional, constantly crashing or failing to load – creating anxiety and confusion among candidates.
This is not the first time that such a technical failure has disrupted the recruitment process. It is extremely disappointing that APPSC, our state’s premier recruiting body, still operates with an outdated system that cannot handle even 4,000 to 5,000 applicants, while other states manage 30,000 to 50,000 candidates smoothly through robust and efficient platforms. Such recurring issues reflect poorly on the commission’s credibility and raise concerns about its preparedness and professionalism.
Furthermore, the APPSC should ensure greater transparency in its examination process. It should publish the total number of applicants, along with their names and qualifications, prior to the recruitment test – just as was done in some of the previous examinations. After the test, the commission must publish the individual marks of the candidates on its website, clearly stating the cut-off marks and the number of applicants who have qualified. Such steps will enhance transparency and build public trust in the selection process.
The repeated technical failures and lack of openness are doing irreparable damage to the commission’s reputation, which has already been dented in recent times. It is high time the commission modernized its digital infrastructure, ensured transparency at every stage of recruitment, and conducted examinations in a smooth, fair, and controversy-free manner.
