Editor,

This is an appeal on behalf of the newly added candidates for the Arunachal Engineering Services (Mains) Examination. The commission’s decision to fix the exam on 28 September – just nine days after publishing the second list – has left us devastated.

I humbly ask the commission: put yourself in our place. If you were suddenly told to sit for an exam of such magnitude with only nine days to prepare, would you be able to do justice to it? Then why put us in such an impossible position? We are not asking for privilege, only for one fair chance to compete on equal footing.

By rushing into this exam, the commission is not solving a problem but inviting more. Court cases are bound to follow, and once again the exam will be trapped in uncertainty. Instead of pushing candidates into despair, the commission should act responsibly by granting at least one month’s time from the declaration of results, so that every aspirant can prepare with dignity and peace of mind.

This is not just about an exam – it is about the future, health, and hopes of hundreds of young people. We plead for a final and fair solution, not another cycle of confusion and suffering.
