Editor,
I would like to draw the attention of the directorate of higher and technical education and the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to the unsatisfactory number of assistant professors’ posts advertised for the education subject.
As per the actual requirement, the department of education requires more than 30 assistant professors. However, in the recent advertisement issued by the APPSC, only nine posts have been notified, which is far below expectations and does not reflect the existing demand.
According to government records, vide Order No HTE-11/59/2021-DD(E), approval was granted for the engagement of 19 guest faculty members against vacant assistant professors’ posts in the education subject. Furthermore, vide Notification No HTE-11/10/2024-HTE-BR-HTE, the government approved the engagement of 11 additional guest faculty members beyond the sanctioned posts (reference may be made to the notifications published on 18.07.2024 and 11.09.2024).
In view of these notifications, it is evident that the actual requirement of assistant professors in the education subject is much higher than the number of posts recently advertised. This raises a serious concern as to why the directorate of higher and technical education has not addressed the full requirement while forwarding the vacancies to the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Therefore, I earnestly urge the directorate of higher and technical education and the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission to reexamine the abovementioned government notifications and vide orders, and to take necessary steps to fulfil the genuine requirement of assistant professors’ posts in the education subject. Such corrective action would greatly benefit deserving aspirants and strengthen the state’s higher education system.
I hope this letter receives due consideration from the authorities concerned.
Concerned aspirant
